Historical Society Library

The Society's research library, the Charlottesville-Albemarle Historical Collection, is operated jointly with the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library. It contains over 4,000 books and bound periodicals, as well as thousands of photographs, manuscripts, maps, pamphlets, and vertical/subject files relating to the history of our community. It is staffed by a full-time professional librarian and several library volunteers, who assist researchers in locating and using information and materials from the varied resources in the collections.

Please send research inquiries to Mrs. Margaret O'Bryant at: library@albemarlehistory.org .

Be sure to include your name, mailing address, and phone number in the body of your email.

The library is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
